We Brits love a barbecue, but what we don’t love is the indecisive British weather. This is why our kitchens can be utilised to make a rainy day feel like summer all over again. So, if you’re planning a big get together this weekend, but the weather doesn’t look promising, here is how you can host an indoor barbecue.
BBQ LightingDécor and Theme
Bringing a barbecue party indoors doesn’t mean you will lose the fresh, warm feeling of summer. Even in the rain, opening your patio doors out to welcome the outside can certainly create the feeling of alfresco dining. If you don’t have patio doors, open the windows and bring in some garden decorations to make it feel themed around summer. Paper flowers, bunting and fairy lights will also work.
Don’t think for one second that because you’re indoors you should grab the standard dinnerware. Dig out your picnic baskets and serve your food on the bright tableware that will keep the atmosphere fun and casual. Also, be sure to decorate your kitchen island and tables with colourful tablecloths.
To maintain a smoky barbecue flavour, stick to cooking your food on a griddle pan. A gas range hob can work perfectly for creating sizzling barbecue-style food. You should also take advantage of your kitchen. For example, use your oven for slow cooking and throwing in some extra sides such as potato wedges or roasted vegetables. And, of course, don’t forget to have party snacks ready!
Make sure the raincoats are kept in the hallway and enforce a summer dress code. You will be indoors, so you won’t need to wrap up warm. You should also make sure your music sets the right mood. Find summer tracks that will ensure a light, casual atmosphere.
